Dinosaurs Might Be Extinct, But the All-New 2019 Ford Raptor Ranger Lives in More than Our Dreams

If you're a Ford fan, you've probably heard of (and dreamed about driving) the Ford F-150 Raptor, the performance-variant for Ford's best-selling pickup truck. Well there's a new dino in the pack, but it's not an F-150 this time—Ford is resurrecting the Ford Ranger pickup truck for 2019, and there's one special trim we're all looking forward to: the 2018 Ford Raptor Ranger. It brings off-roading excitement in a smaller pickup-truck package.

A Look at the Highlight Reel: 2019 Ford Raptor Ranger

Unveiled at a press conference in Thailand, the 2019 Ford Raptor Ranger we saw is specific to the Asian Pacific market, so the version we'll see here in the U.S might look a little different, but here are some of the highlights we were able to glean from the release:

  • Power is in no short supply, coming from an all-new twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel inline-four engine, capable of 210 horsepower and a tremendous 369 pound-feet of torque. Having that kind of power on tap is going to feel very good.
  • Going off-road will feel very good, too; the 2019 Raptor Ranger features Fox Racing Shox dampers, dent-resistant fenders, integrated tow hooks and a tow bar, and BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires. Oh, and those Off-Roading Modes found on the F-150 Raptor? The Raptor Ranger has 'em too.
  • Bigger all around, the Raptor Ranger has a winder front and rear tracks over the standard Ranger measurements.

While you're going to have to wait for official news on the U.S release of the 2018 Ford Raptor Ranger, we hope these details are enough to sate your appetite until then. Surely there will be more teasers and tidbits to nourish ourselves on as the date draws closer, but if you're looking for a Raptor right now, the Ford F-150 Raptor is here for you.
